The Story Behind Anatolian Textures
Born from a Journey Through Anatolia
The idea behind Anatolian Textures began during a journey through Anatolia.
I had already spent years working in the textile industry and had the opportunity to experience different areas of the fashion and textile market. But over time, I began to feel increasingly disconnected from the industry's culture of rapid consumption. I had always felt a desire to consume less, going back to my childhood, but I couldn't find a textile approach that truly reflected that way of thinking.
During my travels through Anatolia, I discovered something that stayed with me: earlier generations produced high-quality textiles using traditional production methods while consuming far less. The fabrics, the weaving techniques and the knowledge behind them were shaped by a very different relationship with materials — one based on making, using and valuing textiles rather than constantly replacing them.
Discovering Traditional Textile Knowledge
At the same time, I saw how difficult it had become for many traditional textile producers to continue their work within the speed and demands of the modern world. Traditional weaving techniques and production methods that had been passed down through generations were becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.
This made me think about whether there could be a different way forward: a community of people who wanted to consume less, value materials more and reconnect with the knowledge and craftsmanship behind the textiles they use.
From an Idea to Anatolian Textures
That idea gradually became Anatolian Textures.
Today, we work with textile producers and artisans across Anatolia to bring traditional weaving techniques and distinctive Turkish textiles to contemporary designers, makers and textile enthusiasts around the world.
Our collections include handwoven Turkish fabrics, traditional Anatolian textiles, cotton, linen, silk and hemp fabrics, Kutnu and Silk Moire textiles, textured fabrics and antique or vintage woven textiles.
Rather than treating traditional textiles as something that belongs only to the past, we want to give them a place in contemporary fashion, interiors and design.
Preserving What Still Has Value
For us, preserving textile heritage is not only about keeping an old technique alive. It is also about preserving the knowledge, craftsmanship and relationship with materials behind it.
By connecting traditional textile producers with contemporary designers and customers, we hope to create opportunities for these techniques to continue evolving rather than disappearing.
Anatolian Textures is our way of bringing together traditional craftsmanship, natural textiles and a more thoughtful approach to consumption.
Our Vision
We believe textiles can be valued for more than their appearance. They can carry knowledge, craftsmanship, history and the story of the people who made them.
Our vision is to make these textiles accessible to a new generation of designers and makers while helping traditional Anatolian textile knowledge continue into the future.
